Emotional Release Meditation
We have seven main energy centers or chakras in the body. These centers open when we feel love, compassion, or joy and they close when we feel fear, anger, guilt, or shame for example. If we live too long in energy that causes our centers to close they can develop blockages. It then becomes harder and harder to open ourselves up to love, compassion or joy. As a result, we experience fewer of these emotions and close down even further.
You need to remember that emotions don't belong to anyone, they are universal and just energy. The situation or person that you respond to with anger is not the issue, the anger itself is the issue. Therefore, it is the anger alone that you need to let go of. Your body will fight, at one point in your life, this anger was protecting you.
However, at this point in your life, especially if you are visiting my website, your anger is blocking your growth and your reconnection to your authentic self.
So, how do we start to move these blocked energies so that the body can release them?
- place your hands over your energy centers as you say the words (this will help increase focus and the energy flow).
- say the words slowly, meaningfully, and with intention.
- keep your attention on the feelings and sensations that these words create in your body.
- forget about the stories, just focus on the feelings and sensations.
- you must allow yourself to feel anything that comes up for you, allow it to move through your body, and cry if you need to.
- notice the effect these emotions have on your body and your self-talk.
- acknowledge these emotions and how they served you when you needed them.
- thank them for their service, then release them to the universe with love and gratitude.
Remember that it may take multiple sessions working with this meditation before your body lets down its guard and begins the release process. You will need to be dedicated and patient with yourself.
Preparation:
- Find somewhere quiet where you will not be disturbed.
- Sit or lie in a comfortable position, you may need a blanket for comfort.
- Set the mood with some soft music and fragrance.
- Take some deep breaths. On the in-breath see, feel, or simply trust that you are breathing in love and light from your very source. On the out-breath, release that love and light out into the room through your energy centers.
- Relax and release the tension on every out breath.
- When you feel calm and relaxed you are ready to begin.
The Meditation:
Start by placing your hands over your Base Center, (located at the base of your spine) and state allowed or to yourself( allowed is best if possible), "I release fear". State it several times with conviction, then notice what comes up for you. Relax here for three to five minutes, then move on.
Next move your hands to the Sacral center,(located between your pubic bone and your navel) and state "I release guilt". As above, state it several times and then notice what comes up for you.
Move on to the Solar Plexus( located between the navel and the bottom of the rib cage) and release blame.
At the Heart center, you will release grief.
At the Throat center, you will release shame.
And at the Brow center, you will release pride.
The next step is to release your Mother (Heart for women, Sacral for men), and your Father (Heart for men, Sacral for women).
The last step is to use the hand positions mentioned above and repeat "I forgive" for your mother and father.
Rest in this energy for as long as you need to before grounding yourself to finish off the session.
For the grounding, visualize, feel or simply trust that you have roots growing out of the soles of your feet. Slowly they move down through the earth branching out like the roots of a tree. They grow thick and strong all the way down to the center of the earth, feel the energy move up and down this connection as you breathe in and out.
When you are ready to come out, start by wriggling your fingers and toes before opening your eyes.
The Next Step
After a while, you will feel your energy shift as blocked emotions are released. This is a good time to move to the next phase, "I absorb".
The steps and hand positions are exactly the same as above, the only difference is the words you say.
Start as before with your hands over your Base center and say out loud or in your head "I absorb satisfaction".
At the Sacral center, you will absorb pleasure.
At the Solar plexus, you will absorb power.
At the Heart center, you will absorb love.
At the Throat center, you will absorb truth.
At the Brow center, you will absorb wisdom.
And at the Crown, you will absorb connection.
To finish your session repeat your grounding exercise.
The emotions suggested for you to connect with are only that, suggestions. If other emotions come up for you in different centers, feel free to work with those instead. there is no right or wrong way to do this.
